How to Prepare for JEE Mains/Advanced

The JEE is the gateway exam for the admissions into undergraduate engineering programs offered at the IITs. The students aspiring to clear JEE Mains must know the pattern of the JEE exam which will help them in preparing smartly and efficiently for the exam.

The questions in the JEE exam will be based on the syllabus followed by the CBSE board. The JEE question paper will contain a total of 90 questions which must be attempted in 3 hours. The candidates will get exactly 2 minutes to solve 1 question. Therefore, the candidates must learn to solve the questions within 2 minutes and develop and increase speed. This can only be done by going through a large number of multiple choice questions.

Students must start studying topics that have the most weightage in the paper. For example, in the Physics paper, questions from topics like Current Electricity, Heat and Thermodynamics will have the highest weightage which will be around 7% and 6% respectively. The JEE question papers will have 25% easy questions, 50% of questions with average difficulty and the rest 25% with high difficulty. Some of the important topics that must be covered for the JEE exams are Kinetics and Dynamics, Electromagnetism in Physics, Determinants, Sequences, Permutation and Combination, coordinate geometry, vectors in Mathematics and Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry in Chemistry.

The JEE aspirants must first create a time table to be followed strictly. This time table should schedule everything starting from time for meals, time for rest, time for reading, time for attempting mock papers and time for learning concepts and theories.
