Why pursue a career in IFS?
The IFS is a prestigious position that almost everyone in the country would have aspired for at least once. The IFS or the Indian Foreign Service is a dream occupation for many in the country. The IFS is a diplomatic administrative service under the Government of India. The candidates aspiring to pursue a career in IFS must have to appear in the civil services examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
An Indian Diplomat has various functions, some of which are to represent India in its embassies, consulates and in multilateral world organizations such as the United Nations. It also includes guarding India’s interests and also facilitating friendly relations with other countries and many other functions.
It will never be boring or routine working as an IFS officer. The individuals getting selected for the IFS get opportunities to work in foreign countries, responsibility to carry out assignments in different countries, work with a team and many other interesting works. There will be chances to meet new people and opportunities to learn new languages.
The pay-scale has also been revised and it is now quite alluring. There is job security working as an IFS officer. A career in IFS will not only bring exciting opportunities to travel and work in different countries with different dignitaries of other countries but it will also develop and hone the skills of the individual and make him/her prepared to face the world of globalization.
