Interview with Super 30's Founder Anand Kumar


Anand Kumar, founder of Super 30, a free coaching center which trains children from poor families for entry into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology. Peoples are glad to see the work of Anand Kumar, listing him as a "People's Hero".

Anand Kumar has helped 263 children from poor families to make it into the prestigious IITs. Here is a brief interview of Anand Kumar:

 

Question 1:  “what would make you happiest”?

 

Answer 1: “I always wanted to become a mathematician. My teachers encouraged me a lot and under the guidance of my mentor and guru, Devi Prasad Verma, (then the Head, Department of Mathematics, Patna Science College), I started a training program for mathematics lovers. It was a free program, which anybody with interest in Mathematics could join”.

 

Question 2: “How are you feeling”?

 

Answer 2: "It feels great to find a place in People. It will inspire me work even harder. I am not a celebrity. I am just an ordinary man, but this is a great gesture from the magazine, to find me good enough for this honor. This is recognition of the students, my teachers and family members, as without them it would not have been possible," Kumar said.

 

Question 3: It was easy for you?

 

Answer 3: “Initially, making all arrangements for 30 students was not so easy but I generated funds by tutoring students of other schools, while my mother, Jayanti Devi, cooked food for the students.”
