VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE)

Established in 1984, Vellore Institute of Technology is a premier technical institute of India. In the year 2001, it was accredited by NAAC as deemed university. From the year of establishment, VIT has been an excellent center of engineering education. The institute has earned a prestigious reputation and has become one of the most preferred institutes to pursue engineering among the students of India. The institute is working on global platform and has students from 50 countries and from every state of India.


Leading organizations namely, TCS, Wipro and Cognizant are placement partners of the institute. The institute holds record in Limca Book of Records for its placements. The institute has become first choice among the engineering aspirants who will to study in world class institute of technology.


The institute takes admission in undergraduate engineering programme of B.Tech through entrance exam named as VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE). Every year lakhs of students appear in the examination. VITEEE is one of the most prominent engineering exams. The exam is conducted in computer based test (CBT) format. This format of examination gives flexibility and convenience to the appearing candidates.


In the year 2015, 195302 engineering aspirants have applied for the  VIT Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) which is to be held from 8th April 2015 to 19th April 2015. Dr. G. Viswanathan, Founder and chancellor of VIT Univerity has said that VIT University has branched out due to the swelling demands for programmes raised by the students of Middle Eastern countries. Students from the prominent centers of India have registered for the exam. The number of students applied for VITEEE is given below on the states of India which show the popularity of the entrance exam among the engineering aspirants:

·        With 27604 candidates including 22996 male candidates, Uttar Pradesh, is at top position

·        25087 candidates from Andhra Pradesh

·        17314 candidates from Bihar

·        15932 from Maharashtra

·        13134 from Telangana

·        13647 from Tamil Nadu


On the basis of prominent cities, the number of registered candidates is shown below:

·        13846 candidates from Hyderabad

·        14219 candidates from Delhi

·        10009 candidates from Kota

·        8585 candidates from Patna

·        9165 candidates from Vijayawada

·        6229 candidates from Chennai

·        2409 from Vellore


According to the examination authorities, the result will be declared on or before 30th April 2015.


The counseling is going to be conducted from 11th May to 16th May 2015 according to the ranks obtained by the candidates. On 11th May 2015 counseling will be done for the candidates ranked up to 8,000, on 12th May up to 12,000, on 13th May up to 16,000 and those candidates who have ranked up to 20,000 will have to sit for counseling on 16th May 2015.


There are special scholarship programs for the toppers. The central and state government toppers get 100% fee waiver, the candidates who are ranked  between 1 to 50 get 75% fee discount, 51 to 100 ranked candidates get 50% fee waiver and 101 to 1000 ranked candidates get 25% fee waiver. According to the chancellor, the district toppers in 10+2 examination from rural areas of Tamil Nadu, who appear in VITEEE and get top scores get 100% fee waiver and free hostel and mess facilities under the STAR (Supporting the Advancement of Rural Students) program of VIT. The main motive of this program is to give the chance of advancement to the students who deserve it but due to poor financial condition and lack of resources, unable to get it.
