About ECCE or Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English


About the ECCE

The Examination for the Certificate of Competency in English (ECCE) is conducted under the adherence and directive of CaMLA (a non-profit alliance amongst the University of Michigan and the University of Cambridge), and is known to be a high-level and standardized eligibility for English as a foreign language (EFL) examination. ECCE Certificate can be used for:

  • As a proof of significant eligibility and proficiency in English for individual, communal, instructive, and professional resolutions
  • As an evidence of linguistic fluency on professional front
  • As a skill when applying for any job or conducting business meetings

The ECCE is organized and supervised on a global platform, and can be applied freely by teenagers, young adults, and adults existing in any corners of the country, where English is not regarded as a common language. The four major components being accessed under this exam includes Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking and is focused on enhancing the skills and advances at the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

ECCE Exam Format

The basic majors of examination involve Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. The duration of the examination is 3 hours.

In order to achieve ECCE Certificate, the students appearing must attain at least Low Pass in three segments of the exam and no less than a Borderline Fail.

ECCE Exam Application

The test is planned by CaMLA and costs around $150. Applicants must directly contact the provided local test center for possible test date confirmation. In case of any handicapped issues or such specifications, application must be made at least three months before the test date. In case of any managerial alterations, for example time extension, reader or scribe, candidate must look into the matter and apply one month before the test date.

Required Documentation

  • Certain documents duly signed by a licensed or certified professional qualified to evaluate the disability and sign the documents must be presented before the administrator.
  • American Psychological Association has mentioned the list of disabilities, such as an individual retaining a physical, mental, or growing damage that significantly bounds one or more of their chief life actions.
  • Classroom teachers and parents are not considered qualified to arrange for disability determination.
