IIT-NIT Joint Counselling 2015 Eligibility Criteria


The selection of candidates for academic programs offered by IITs, IIITs/NITs and Govt. funded institutes will be done through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority. The commencement of the process will begin from 25th June 2015. A web portal has been created to facilitate the process. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority has set eligibility criteria for the students to appear for the Joint Seat allocation. The candidates must have to qualify any one of the below mentioned criteria to be eligible for the Joint Seat Allocation process.

Eligibility Criteria for IITs and ISM Dhanbad

  • Candidates should have qualified IIT JEE Advanced 2015 for academic programs offered by IITs and ISM Dhanbad and also fulfill the “performance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination.
  • Candidates should also have qualified the IIT JEE (Advanced) 2015 for preparatory courses offered at IITs and ISM Dhanbad and also fulfill the “performance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination”.
  • Eligibility criteria for NITs, IITs and Govt. Funded Technical Institutes

Candidates should have secured a rank in Paper-1 (B.E./B.Tech) of IIT JEE (Mains) 2015 and must also have scored a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in class XII (or equivalent). The students belonging to SC, ST, OBC-NCL and PwD categories must have an aggregate score of not less than 40% and general category students must have a minimum aggregate of 45%.
The aggregate marks will be calculated by considering the marks obtained in the following five subjects:

  • Any one Language
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Any one out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology or Technical Vocational Subject
  • Any other fifth subject

Candidates should have secured a rank in Paper-2 (B.Arch./B.Planning) of the JEE Mains 2015 and must also have studied Mathematics as a compulsory subject in Class XII examination. The candidate must also have scored an aggregate of not less than 50% marks (including Mathematics).
