Japan offering scholarship to Indian students for 5-year UG program
Government of Japan is offering scholarship to young Indian aspirants, in a bid to woo them to pursue higher education in the country. The scholarship includes one-year preparatory education in Japanese language and other subjects.
Received applications will be examined and registration numbers will be mailed to the shortlisted candidates. Japanese embassy will shortlist the candidates initially by conducting an offline test (to be conducted in July 2015) and the successful candidates will be recommended to MEXT for the scholarship. MEXT will conduct the final selection of the candidates.
The scholarship is for a five-year undergraduate (UG) program. It includes one-year training in Japanese in Universities based in the country.
The scholarship consists of free tuition fees, a monthly stipend and a return ticket to India. Another scholarship scheme extended to Indian students is for a three-year UG program, which consists of one-year training in Japanese. All the interested students of 17 to 21 years of age group, who have cleared their Class XII examinations, can apply. Interested candidates need to download & fill the application form and send it to the Embassy of Japan on or before 17th June, 2015. MEXT Scholarship will be held on Wednesday, 17th June, 2015. Approximately, 560 Indian students are studying in Japan, the country is trying to make concerted efforts to expand the numbers. The government of Japan is trying to enhance its academic attachment with India. The higher education policies in the country are steered towards economic growth. Japan’s institutes are internationally competitive and top in the rank in global ratings.
Apart from this various higher education institutes, Japan has been taking diverse measures to attract students and researchers from India. Japan has emerged as a popular destination for Indian aspirants.
