KSOU derecognized by University Grants Commission
The (KSOU) Karnataka State Open University established in June 1996 is considered to be a reputed Open University amongst the best open learning institutions in our country.
The latest news is that Karnataka State Open University which is located in Mysore has been De-recognized by UGC (University Grants Commission). It was de-recognized for offering Programmes through Distance learning mode by ‘blatantly flouting the norms’. The reason behind this decision is that the KSOU has been offering professional/technical programmes in violation of the norms of the concerned regulatory bodies and without the approval of UGC. The university has also started offering online programmes, which are not recognized by UGC, as an exclusive method of distance education.
According to the notice issued on June 16, the UGC has not recognized any programmes of KSOU beyond 2012-13.
