Universities receive UGC nod to customize syllabi by 30%
On the account of the recent announcement made by University Grants Commission (UGC), Universities functioning under Indian Educational System are informed to modify their model curriculums by 30 percent upon the dependency of their area of specialty. Along with that, UGC made sure that no inter-institute/ inter-college migration/transfer of teachers must take place.
Previously, universities were informed about the statistics of modification to 20% only, and the upgrade has brought tremendous relief and comfort amongst teachers and students.
As quoted by Jaspal S Sandhu, Secretary, UGC, “The commission has provided the universities with the format of events to be caught up so that the gauges of academics are similarly kept up. Likewise guarantees decency in appraisal and assessment.”
Offering 30 rate influences in the change of the syllabi, UGC said that this cannot be framed as deviation from the prior practice, where inter-university migration obliges a base of 70 percentage equivalency, inferring that the syllabi all over India on undergraduate level are directed on the same platform.
Under the CBCS framework, the elective subjects so offered might be from the subjects who are popularly accessible in the Universities/ Institutes. Various correspondences have been sent to the vice-chancellors of all colleges for viable execution of the framework. Eight workshops, currently, have been conducted all over India, in which VCs of all Central, State and Private Colleges had contributed with their participation. The UGC has likewise maintained that the presentation of Choice Bases Credit System won't obstruct the scholastic and liberal environment of the colleges and universities in any way possible.
