Delhi to reduce main syllabus to add yoga, music: Deputy CM
In a deliberate initiative for changing the face of Indian Education System, Delhi has taken some of the significant steps for creating a positive environment and foundation for further growth. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia quoted on Delhi Education Modules on Monday, that his judicial authorities have taken an opportunity to reduce the curriculum by 25% and replace and add several refreshing and life-rejuvenating courses, which further includes Yoga, Music and Sports.
As a speaker at the inauguration ceremony of the National Conference for Yoga Teachers, he quoted,” The things which are essential for living, we term them as extra-curricular and those that are optional are taught as main curriculum." He interpreted learning yoga, sports and music as one of the life’s ethnic discoveries, and further added that if not possible for all schools, some schools will be targeted for this launch as a pilot project.
He has requested Central Government to mark and apply the introduction of these courses under the main curriculum. Yoga curriculum initiated and launched by Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani will be taken into production and will be implemented fully or partially in Delhi schools and from this current session itself.
