DU's first cut-off to soar high tomorrow on Thursday
As the first cutoff for Delhi University undergraduate programmes are set to be declared on Thursday, the anxiety among the aspirants is increasing. Many colleges have planned to keep the cutoffs of popular courses beyond 99% in the best four aggregate.
Over 1000 Applications have 100% best four aggregate and over 18000 applications with over 99% aggregate are there, as per sources. Admissions will begin on Thursday at 9am for Morning Colleges and from 4pm for Evening colleges.
Looking at the trend set by St. Stephen’s College, Jamia Millia Islamia and Ambedkar University, the cutoffs are likely to increase significantly.
DU has a total of 54000 seats, excluding 6000-odd supernumerary seats. A total of 2,91,817 applications have been received by the university this year, out of which the candidates with scores between 85% and 100% at class XII is 69,640. The registration data clearly shows that the number of high scorers is more than the total number of seats but the college principals and admission committee members still feel that the candidates with scores ranging from 80 to 85% may also find space.
