Maharashtra students bag top 3 ranks in JEE (M)
The declaration of the JEE (Mains) ranks brought a great deal of delight for the state of Maharashtra as all top three rankers are from the state itself. The first rank was secured by Sankalp Gaur from Pune. He was followed by Tanuj Kaza from Mumbai and Giridhar S from Pune, securing second and third ranks respectively.
"It was a pleasant surprise to find I had topped the all-India chart. I had the highest JEE score, but wasn't sure if I would top the country as the Class XII marks have also been considered," said Gaur, who scored 345 marks out of 360 in the exam and 97.80% in his CBSE XII Boards. Electrical engineering in IIT-Bombay is what Gaur will opt for, but pursuing pure physics is his ultimate goal.
"Least expected" was what Kaza called his feat of second ranking. A student of PACE Junior Science College, Andheri, Kaza scored 335 in Main and 95.85% in Higher Secondary Examinations. Giridhar S plans to choose computer science and engineering at IIT-Bombay. He is a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pune and scored 321 in Main and 98% in CBSE.
Sheshansh Agrawal and Divyansh Pareek are the fourth and fifth rank holders. Both of them are from Jaipur.
