Aeronautical engineering hits air pocket at Anna University
A very few students have opted for aeronautical engineering at Anna University this year. There are 2,625 seats for the aeronautical engineering program offered at Anna University and only 226 candidates have opted for it until Wednesday, the eighth day of counseling.
A similar drop can also be seen in Automobile engineering and Biotechnology programs as well. Automobile engineering, which has 2,455 seats, has been chosen by 482 students and Biotechnology, which has 1,357 seats, has been chosen by 557 students.
Experts say, choosing a reputed college for aeronautical engineering will help the students to stop worrying about job opportunities. A Chennai-based career expert said, "It is a specialized industry."
It is essential to get into the right college as the industry exposure that the college provides matters, Rajalakshmi Engineering College placement director Philip Praveen said.
"This is not a conventional course. An institute should have proper infrastructure to send out eligible candidates. Industry connect is also essential," said Nehru Group of Institutions, Coimbatore, CEO and secretary P Krishnakumar.
