AIPMT 2015: Exam today, Hijab banned but full sleeve shirts allowed
All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Test - 2015 (AIPMT) will be conducted today, on 25th July 2015 under the strict supervision of Central Board of Secondary Education , allowing eligible candidates a chance to showcase their true worth without any discrepancies. This national-level test is held for admissions in medical and dental courses.
AIPMT 2015 exam conduction has been under lot of pressure and criticisms. According to the previous reports, Supreme Court, on 19th June, gave CBSE a notice time till August 17 for the organization of AIPMT 2015 exam. The original exam schedule held on 3rd May and results were cancelled, due to the allegations of question paper leak and answer keys.
Following the rules and regulations regarding the dress code, yesterday only, on 24th July, SC rejected the pleas made by Muslim Students, eliminating their appeal to wear Hijab or a full-sleeved shirt.
The plea was made by Students Islamic Organisation of India and was heard by a bench of skilled judges, Chief Justice HL Dattu, Justice Arun Mishra and Justice Amitava Roy, and was politely declined, saying, "If you appear in an examination without a scarf, your faith will not disappear."
SC stated that the issue related to Hijab is "nothing but an ego", and said that candidates are free to wear the hijab after the examination is over, but as long as they are in the hall, they have to maintain the rules and regulations. Chief Justice Dattu said, "It is only for three hours... wear scarf after three hours.”
