IIT Kharagpur: internships rise by 50%
The number of internships being offered to the students has increased by 50 percent in the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) this year.
The officials say that the internships for the current academic session i.e. 2015-16 began from August 1. The number of internships as well as the number of companies visiting the campus has increased. The number of companies visiting the campus has gone up by 33 percent.
Students have received internship opportunities from premier organizations like Microsoft, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Facebook, Texas Instruments ITC, Hindustan Unilever and Noruma.
Officials see it as a golden opportunity to transform these internship opportunities from such big brands into pre-placement offers (PPOs) and automatically enroll such companies as recruiters for final placements.
