Centre asks IIT Seat Allotment Authority to refund the fees for candidates who haven’t joined
With a new turn of events, Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has been instructed by HRD ministry to offer refund services for acceptance fee/ tuition fee for students who haven’t attended for the admissions of the courses. Apart from that, there have been instructions to fill up the 3,200 vacant seats as soon as possible.
With reference to "ensure that a uniform policy is adopted by all the higher educational institutions", JoSSA will be entitled to follow the policy process. The Directive to JoSSA stated that if any student persuades and withdraws the admission before the initiation of the course session, the student will be allotted with whole money with a minor deduction of the processing fee of estimated Rs. 1,000.
One of the sources was quoted, "JoSAA can evolve a new process. So many seats cannot be allowed to remain vacant when there is so much demand for engineering courses."
As reported, JoSSA didn’t allow students to give up the seats during the counseling process, and also clogged the students at lower ranks to move up. The counseling process for JoSSA is confined to a change.
