Recommendations made by a government-appointed panel, on attaining approval from the ministry of human resource development (MHRD), shall soon open doors to the students all across the country for the admissions to engineering and management institutes located in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
As per the report submitted by the panel, setting up a National Testing Service has been recommended, that shall conduct a single entrance test for admission to all engineering colleges affiliated to AICTE and a common examination for all institutes offering management programmes.
A large number of students from the North of India are interested in pursuing engineering and management courses form the institutes and colleges located in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana since these states are a hub for engineering and management studies.
The report submitted by the AICTE review committee states: "There shall be a single National Testing Service which shall conduct a Joint Entrance Examination for engineering courses and a Common Admission Test for management courses, the results whereof shall be used by all institutions, whether run by universities, deemed universities, state government-run universities, private universities etc."
This move will also help institutes, which often go unnoticed each year, chances to fill their seats.
Presently, only 15 % seats are available for the students from other states. This move will help aspiring students from other states to compete for the engineering and management courses offered in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
