UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Exam 2015 Notification Out


Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is now steering invites for the various posts of  Geologists (Group A), Geophysicist (Group A), Chemists  (Group A)  of  Geological Survey  of  India  and  Junior  Hydro geologists  (Scientist  B),  Group  A. Eligible candidates are requested to apply for the vacancy, as the designations are well-reputed and hold a well-versed goodwill. The process of application will extend till 16th August.

Eligibility criteria:

Educational qualification:

  • Geologists (Group A): Master's degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied geology or Geo- Exploration from a renowned university or institute or equivalent.
  • Geophysicist (Group A): Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Physics from a renowned university or institute or equivalent.
  • Chemist (Group A): Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Chemistry from a renowned university or institute or equivalent.
  • Junior Hydro geologists (Scientist B): Master degree in Geology from a renowned university or institute or equivalent.

Age limit:

  • Geologists Group A: Age as on January 1, 2015, the age must reside between 21 to 32 years.
  • Geophysicist Group A: Age as on January 1, 2015, the age must reside between 21 to 32 years. 
  • Chemist Group A: Age as on January 1, 2015, the age must reside between 21 to 32 years.
  • Junior Hydro geologists (Scientist B): Age as on January 1, 2015, the age must reside between 21 to 35 years.

Selection procedure:

Based on their performance in the written test and personal interview, the candidates will be recruited for the précised post.

Pay scale:

  • Geologists (Group A): Remuneration of Rs 15,600 to Rs 39,100, grade pay of Rs 5,400 per month.
  • Geophysicist (Group A): Remuneration of Rs 15,600 to Rs 39,100, grade pay of Rs 5,400 per month.
  • Chemists (Group A): Remuneration of Rs 15,600 to Rs 39,100, grade pay of Rs 5,400 per month.
  • Junior Hydro geologists (Scientist B): Remuneration of Rs 15,600 to Rs 39,100, grade pay of Rs 5,400 per month.

Paper Pattern:

The exam duration will be of 3 hours with maximum marks as 200.
