India’s first skill university to be established soon
Students will no longer have to enroll themselves for vocational skill training courses after the completion of their university education to find a way to earn their livelihood.
The first skill university will be setup in India on the basis of the recommendations made by a sub-group of the NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog. This skill university will accredit skill centers and allow them to issue degrees and diplomas equivalent to the ones offered by the already functioning educational institutions. Employment exchanges will also play the role of skill counseling centers.
This upcoming skill university will guide the govt. and private run skill training institutes. The students will be graded on a 10 point scale under NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework), which will be overseen by this university.
The skill development ministry has been established by the government to function as the nodal point for skill management in the country. Even individuals with no formal education can acquire a certificate of equivalence to formal education under the framework.
