AP and TISS sign MOU


To increase the employability of students, the Andhra Pradesh government has signed a MOU with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).

The MOU has been signed to implement program activities of a flagship initiative of the state government called 'Andhra Pradesh University Students Employability Skill Development Program'.

The MOU was signed in Visakhapatnam on the occasion of Teacher's Day, in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivas Rao.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said "We aim to transform Andhra Pradesh state into a knowledge hub by providing quality education and giving opportunities for students to develop employability skills among the Universities and Colleges in the state".

The MOU seeks to collaborate with the various organizations which include public sector bodies, civil society organizations, private sector institutions and social entrepreneurship organizations, to enhance the efforts of the Andhra Pradesh State Knowledge Mission.

TISS has been appointed for the execution of National University Student Skill Development Program (NUSSD), which aims to provide employability skills for the university students.

A comprehensive skill development model has been developed. This Comprehensive Skill Development Model will consist of elements of soft skill, digital/computer skills, English communication and analytical skills, financial literacy, legal literacy, entrepreneurship and leadership development.

The implementation of the programme will be done through Jawahar Knowledge Centres (JKC) across the state and it will also include some of the best courses and practices from National University Students Skill Development Program.
