IIT Dharwad likely to start admissions from next year
From the next academic year (2016-17) onwards, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Dharwad will most likely start functioning from a temporary campus, with a strength of 120 students in its first batch (in the streams of Engineering i.e. Mechanical, Electrical, Computer and Civil).
The new IIT will function from the premises of WALMI (Water & land Management Institute), which is adjacent to the Karnataka High court on the Pune-Bengaluru highway, as can be noted from a letter written to the Karnataka Government by the director of IITs, Tripti Gurha.
One of the main requirements to start admissions could be teachers. But experts say teachers will have to be hired for the first year only, for the initial stage, which should not be difficult.
