Record 3 Lakh Applications Received by IGNOU
Three Lakh applications have been received by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), after commencement of online application. IGNOU recorded an increment of 29% in the application process.
A university official said, "The University has received a record three lakh applications for the July 2015 cycle, and there has been an increase of more than 29 per cent as compared to last year,”.
He added, "The student's registration in the difficult and remote regions like Northeast (7 states) and Jammu and Kashmir have also shown increase. IGNOU has registered a 4 per cent growth in the northeastern states and 20 percent in Jammu and Kashmir,”.
"Through the online process, university has received 68,000 applications. We intend to extend this facility for all admission cycles -- fresh and re-registrations beginning from January 2016," the official said.
The vertical mobility for Indian Army and Indian Air Force personnel under Project Gyandeep (Army), into 3rd year of BCom/Bsc (Hons.) Applied Sciences/ BA from this session has been allowed by IGNOU. "Under the scheme 7500 applications have been received," the official added.
