Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre to be set up soon
The establishment of an ISLRTC (Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre) under the society’s registration act of 1860 will soon take place as an approval has been given by the union cabinet for the same.
ISLRTC will be run and function under the aegis of the Department of Empowerment of persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. At the initial stage it will be located in New Delhi at the Institute for Physically Handicapped.
The establishment of this Centre focuses on providing help to five million deaf people in the country. This step will increase their accessibility to education, work and other important areas in their life.
The main motive of the ISLRTC is to provide equal opportunities to hearing impaired people to fully participate in the life and improve their self-confidence.
