Indian Culture and Yoga courses to be introduced in JNU
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has decided to introduce short term courses on Indian Culture and Yoga. These courses are offered to instill spiritual and mythological aspects and spread the Indian values all over the world.
JNU has circulated a draft regarding these courses among various departments and schools affiliated to it for their feedback on this proposal. The proposal will be placed in front of JNU academic council on October 30.
An official said “These courses will be offered part-time and whether or not they will be credit courses is yet to be decided. Details about the school offering them and the duration will also be worked out post the AC approval.”
As per the draft made by JNU, these courses aim to expand the Indian culture and values and explore the spiritual, cultural, etymological, mythological, and social aspects.
The course material will consist of thoughts and tradition of different cultures which includes topics like the religious systems in India. A senior university official said, "The course will include a basic study of Indian culture to establish Indian rituals and values in the world and derive ways from these sources to make human life better."
