Tsinghua University ranked world’s No.1 engineering university
Can you come up with a name better than Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) when it comes to higher education in the field of engineering?
Probably not, but according a recent report released by U.S. News and World Report, China’s Tsinghua University tops the list of the best engineering universities in the world. Tsinghua University now leads the league of the best engineering institutes in the world and has taken over MIT’s age-old tradition of remaining No. 1.
Research citations and number of publications as well as reputation among leading researchers were some of the criterion used on the basis of which rankings were awarded to the universities.
Also known as ‘China’s MIT’, Tsinghua University was ranked 2nd in last year’s engineering list. Apart from Tsinghua University, three other Chinese universities were listed among the top 10 engineering universities. Zhejiang University secured the 4th rank while the Harbin Institute of Technology and City University Hong Kong secured the 7th and the 10th positions respectively.
The presence of four universities in the list of top ten engineering institutes also signifies China increasing agility in excelling in the field of engineering and technology. The rankings may probably lead China into becoming one of the most popular destinations among students aspiring for the best quality higher education in the field of engineering.
