Foreign Indian experts to be brought in to improve education system
A senior educationist was quoted as saying that the Indian government is looking forward to bring in educational experts from foreign countries to improve the education system in India.
As per the reports, former chairman of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) S. S. Mantha said, "We are working on an initiative to bring Indian educators overseas to teach in local institutions for at least one semester." At present he is serving as a professor at Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute.
He added, online educational modal is being created for various high-end courses which will be made available through video streaming for the students. There are various plans and programmes which shall be executed to make some contribution to ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’ initiatives, Mantha added.
According to Mantha, plans to enhance the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) by restructuring the basic education in primary schools shall be soon carried out. The GER of primary schools remains at 98% but it dropped to 64% and 20% at secondary and tertiary levels respectively.
