IIT-Kanpur and TAMU collaborated to start dual-degree courses
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has collaborated with Texas A and M University (TAMU), United States to initiate a joint dual degree programme for the students. In a meeting attended by Dr. Vikram Kinra (director of Graduate Programs TAMU), Professor Indranil Manna (IIT-Kanpur Director) and Dr. Margaret Katherine Banks (Vice chancellor of TAMU), the proposal for the joint dual degree programme was given a go-ahead signal.
After completion of this joint dual-degree programme, the students will get a degree with the logo of both the institutes. Admission process for this programme will start from the next academic session.
Babita Lohani, Coordinator of International Relations at IIT-Kanpur said that student’s exchange programme is continued from last three years in this institute. During the meeting it was proposed to increase the number of students to 10 (each institute) for students exchange programme.
She also added that the selection of the candidates for students exchange programme will be totally based on the academic performance. If a student performs well in his academic, then he will have the full opportunity to get select in the student exchange programme. Expenditure such as airfare, food, lodging and accommodation will be the responsibility of the two institutes. Candidates selected for the students exchange programme have to pursue an internship for the duration of three months.
