Kalam-inspired fellowship programme to be launched soon
The environment ministry is looking forward to introduce a post-doctoral research fellowships programme to the Indian Universities in the name of former president late APJ Abdul Kalam.
An official said on Friday, "The main focus of the new fellowship programme and also the ongoing National Environmental Sciences Fellows Programme is to nurture young scientists working in environment and ecology for undertaking good quality scientific research under the mentorship of established scientists of the country."
The notification related to this programme was released on the occasion of Dr. Kalam’s 85th birthday. Young scientist working in areas such as environment and ecology and candidates, who have completed their PhD or in the final year of their PhD programme with specialization in environment and ecology, are eligible for this programme.
Age of the applicant should not be more than 35 years. An annual research contingency grant of INR 1.5 lakh is provided to the research associate together with the monthly fellowship of this fellowship programme.
Other benefits provided with the post-doctoral fellowship include amenities such as house rent allowance, as per the guidelines declared for research associateship.
