Ministry of HRD in support of single entrance test for Engineering Admission
Ministry of Human Resource Development is looking forward to execute ‘one exam, one rank, one counseling’ scheme to facilitate admission process in engineering institutes such as IITs/NITs/IISERs. The committee is all set to submit the report in the 1st week of November. The decision regarding the report was proposed during the IIT council meeting.
The HRD ministry is continuously trying to convince IITs for conducting the single entrance test for engineering admission, as per the news reports. The decision has taken to provide an exam paper with equal balance of question, which will be knowledge based and analytical. The main objective of this step is to reduce the stress faced by the students.
The proposal is likely to be executing to curb the coaching institute, which are causing heavy financial pressure on both, students and parents. Students preparing for engineering entrance test are facing two types of coaching Centres, one is for NITs and another for IITs.
The students currently have to face two levels of entrance test namely, JEE Main and JEE Advance. Students who qualify JEE main, gets the admission in NITs. Aspirants wishing to pursue engineering in IITs, have to qualify both JEE Main and JEE Advance.
