LinkedIn introduces student’s placement platform in India


LinkedIn, a business oriented social networking service, has now introduced a placement platform for students and youth professionals in India. This new product of LinkedIn is very unique and has been developed outside of LinkedIn headquarter by a team comprising of more than 40 software engineers and designers.

LinkedIn’s head of engineering in India, Ganesan Venkatasubramanian said, “Through this product LinkedIn aims to help streamline the process of campus recruitment in India. Our conversations with students, placement officers and recruiters involved in campus recruitment point to an unmet need for efficiency and effectiveness.”

There are more than 6 million students graduating every year in India. These graduates represent the quickest developing fragment among LinkedIn clients present all over the world. India is 2nd largest business market for this company with 122 million users.

“Now the LinkedIn Placements will allow students to track suitable jobs, apply for them and get updates in real time on their mobile phones. The recruiters can also filtering the candidates they want to hire and coordinate with placement officers in campuses,” said company officials in a press release.

This company has tied up with 14 institutes in 4 cities of India, including Asia Pacific Institute of Management, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering in Bangalore and Faculty of Management Studies in Delhi. LinkedIn established a technological center in India which started functioning in the year 2011. Users can find this new product on the official website of LinkedIn.com and it also can be accessed through mobile phone.
