Ananda Chandra College is one of the paramount educational institutes in the state of West Bengal. The college tends to impart quality based education in the field of arts and science. In the northern part of the State of West Bengal, India, full-fledged first grade degree college, Ananda Chandra College, Jalpaiguri came into existence in 1942, the historic year of the Qui India Movement expediting the process of gaining Independence from the British shackles. Thousands of students here have their college education by now, a good many of them being stationed worthily at different positions in the country and beyond. Hostel for boys, staff quarters, the extension counter of the Indian overseas Bank, Jalpaiguri Branch, the Girls Hostel (under construction) etc. are scattered over the larger college compound in the midst of a graceful greenery offering a panoramic view. Curricular activities of both the faculties Arts and Science having 19 teaching departments inclusive of Micro-biology, Physical Education and P.G. courses in Bengali are carried out in Day and Morning shifts under the one and same Governing body. Seven Arts subjects and an equal number of Science subjects have Honours courses in the college. Still with much scope left for furthering the excellence in overall activities, it is pertinent enough to refer to the NAACs ( National Association and Accreditation Council ) awarding the college with B++ grade for the period of five years from 2004 as an outcome of the assessment and accreditation undertaken by the Council (NAAC) in respect of this college, Ananda Chandra College aspires for scaling further heights of excellence in the days to come.
