Hostel Details

  • Hostel facility is available on campus and off campus.
  • Hostel Room will be allotted (subject to availability) for one full academic session and fee will be charged annually as per the applicable fee structure
  • f a student stays in the hostel during summers then additional hostel fee will be payable
  • Every resident will have to vacate the hostel within seven days from the completion of  the session/examination. He/she will not have any claim on allotment of hostel for the next year or retaining the same seat/room in the next year
  • Allotment for the summer semester will be taken as independent allotment & cannot be claimed as a matter of right
  • The students who stay in the hostel for one full session and are interested in continuing for the next session also, they will have to get themselves re-registered  for the next session by paying Rs.10,000/-. Such re- registrations shall normally take place in the month of April.  If a student  does  not avail  the  hostel  facility  after getting  himself  re-registered,  his  deposit of Rs.10,000/- will be forfeited. In case of his/her joining in the next session on the basis of this re- registration,  this amount  of  Rs.10,000/-  will  be  adjusted  towards  the  hostel  fee. It may please be noted that the last date of payment of balance hostel fee is 15th July. In case the last date falls on a holiday, the next working day will be considered
  • Those students who do not get themselves re-registered for the next session may be allotted accommodation in the next session purely on the discretion of the Management.

Dr. Rupinder Singh (Dean)
B. Arch. from Chandigarh College of Architecture, Chandigarh and M. Arch. (Urban Design and Planning) from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, Dr. Singh studied for his Ph. D. at Princeton University. He has to his credit over 25 years of Academic and Professional experience in the field of architecture in India and abroad.

Prior to appointment as Dean-SSAA, Dr. Singh has worked as Dean- School of Architecture & Design, Lovely Professional University, Punjab. He has been associated with top level architectural firms in India & abroad like Design Group-New Delhi, GRUP-New Delhi, Jyoti Rath Associate-New Delhi, B.V. Doshi & Associate-Ahmedabad, Morphogenesis-New Delhi, Antonio Mambro-Boston, 46-architecture, Boston etc. Dr. Singh has received several awards and medals and published many books and research papers.


Institute Description

The Sushant School of Art & Architecture (SSAA) was established in 1989 by Chiranjiv Charitable Trust, a premier voluntary organization devoted to the cause of education. The School has established itself as one of the top three architectural schools in the Indian subcontinent.

The School is recognised by Ministry of HRD, GOI, AICTE & Council of Architecture (COA).

Through its alumni and faculty linkages, the Sushant School has cultivated associations with a number of international universities such as Oxford Brookes' University, University of York, University of Melbourne, University of Virginia, University of Montreal, University of British Columbia, and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, The Frank Lloyd Foundation, USA and The Schumacher Institute, Bristol, UK. The school is an affiliate member of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), USA.  International relationships ensure that SSAA renews its respected status within the world design community.

Sushant School of Art and Architecture has functioned on a dynamic and innovative way of learning. Deakin Workshop
Ansal University collaborated with Deakin University, Australia for students to move forward understanding the dynamics of culture and methodological teaching in different fields. The collaboration is not only striving for a progressive learning but exchange of ideas to improve the pedagogy. Recently Sushant School of Art and Architecture collaborated with Architecture + Built Environment School to organise iDiDe 2013 - Intercultural Dialogue through Design. iDiDe is an initiative from Deakin University to conduct workshop in various international universities.
This year it took place at Sushant School of Art and Architecture to conduct a 2 week strong workshop with a design theme of Revitalisation of Quarry Land - Lal Kuan . Universities from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri-Lanka participated in this workshop, putting Ansal University and Sushant School in international realm.

Lawrence Technological University Workshop
Detroit, USA based Lawrence Technological University in conjunct with Sushant School of Art and Architecture, Ansal University is coordinating a week long workshop on Digital Fabrication and Parametric to Adopt Building Materials for Vernacular Techniques. SSAA is currently engaging its students to use softwares and advance machineries for architecture that would simplify the process of design development. This would enable students to advance in the industry and achieve self-sufficiency. SSAA aims to break the barriers to advance in the design development and assists their students to succeed in architectural education and training.

MIT Workshop
Sushant School of Art and Architecture is coordinating a Design + Build Workshop with renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. The workshop will be focusing on building techniques that aim to bridge the anachronistic with the contemporaneous form of Architecture. The workshop will consist of several transformations of existing architectural and cultural precedents into contemporary architectures of fantas. This workshop looks to the work of architects of previous generations who were likewise concerned with analysis and transformation
of architectural precedents.
