Infrastructure / Teaching Facilities

Libraries:
The college libraries lend technical books and journals both for reference and home reading. Apart from the college libraries, the University also has a Central Library. The spacious Central Library has a large number of titles and regularly subscribes to numerous national and international newspapers, journals and magazines of interest to the students.

Clinics and Laboratories:
There is a suite of laboratories and clinics, each dedicated to a particular area of specialization. Development of the laboratories and clinics has been consistent with the acknowledged expertise existing within the department and is focused on the methodologies involved. The University has made considerable investment in each of these facilities.

A Solid Foundation:
The pedagogy is dynamic and challenging. There are lectures to attend, cases to solve, patient histories to be taken and presented, and projects to be prepared. Overall, the programmes at the University are a well- planned framework of analytical skills and intellectual tools. At the end of the programme, apart from demonstrating a sound knowledge of the principles related to scientific basis of cases, the student will be able to critically evaluate a problem and suggest strategies to resolve it.

Unparalleled Academic Rigour:
The University lays a lot of emphasis on the curriculum, the course content and teaching methods. Assessment is often based on a combination of assigned course work and examinations. The student is tested not only on what he knows, but his ability to apply what he/she has learnt. Assessment during the programme is continuous. It encourages the development of personal self-awareness and evaluation.


Institute Description

The Dr. D.Y. Patil College of Education was established in 2004. It prepares students for the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree of the Padmashree Dr. D.Y. Patil University. It is approved by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) and has an intake capacity of 100 students per year. It is situated in its own campus in the picturesque node of Belapur, the headquarter of the Navi Mumbai District. Two high schools, one in English and the other in Marathi medium, a Junior college of science and commerce, a Junior College of Education provides the perfect opportunity, along with other practicing schools in the area to train our students in up to date and relevant teaching skills, content knowledge and moral values. Students are trained with hands on experience, interactive teaching learning technologies, a high level of media use and interpersonal and organizational skills. A doctoral programme (Ph.D) and a Masters of Philosophy (M.Phil) in Education are the additions in the near future. A Research and Extension Departments are to be set up shortly. The college has an up-to-date extensive library with the latest educational technology, comprising of books, magazines, journals, encyclopedia and CD-ROMs for interactive learning. A Media Center, an experimental Psychology Laboratory and a Computer Laboratory and Sports facilities complete the infrastructure. It has a full time qualified and experienced staff supported by a dedicated and competent non-teaching team.

The Syllabus has been prepared by the Board Of Studies in Education and approved by the Academic Council of the university.
