Brihan College of Commerce, Pune(BMCC) was established in 1943 by the Deccan Education Society. Till 1949, BMCC was affiliated with the Bombay University and in 1949 It got affiliated to University of Pune and accredited with Grade ‘A’ by NAAC in 2009. BMCC is situated in educational epicentre of Pune, at the foothill of Ferguson College and it has recently earned the award of ‘College with potential for excellence’ from UGC. The college has completed 68 years of its fruitful existence. It has produced outstanding students, who have rendered yeoman's service in different areas of national life - Professions, Industry, Business, Politics, Sports and Public Life in general.

NCC - The various activities organised by NCC are:
Tree plantation, blood donation and various awareness programmes, rallies
Assistance to Police force to control the traffic during the days of Ganesh Festival
NSS - Students are made competent and socially responsible through lectures by expert resource persons, industrial visits, surveys and social service activities organised by NSS unit of the college.
The air conditioned conference hall with a seat capacity of 200 is used for seminars, guest lecturers and gathering of students.
It has two well equipped computer laboratories for different courses related to ITC with LAN connectivity.
The language laboratory has twenty 25 with listening and recording facility.
The library building admeasuring 1400 sq.ft. in a 2-storied building. The first has a seating capacity of 60 whereas the second with a larger capacity of 450 is on the first floor of the library. The library building has adequate books and journals.
A spacious and lovely canteen with a capacity of 50 students is located near the gymkhana.
The College has been recognized with several awards and prizes in the recent past.
It has bagged the First Prize from the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai for Annual Magazine 'Artha Vyavahar - 2001'
It received the 'Best College Award' of the University of Pune in February, 2002 under the Quality Improvement Programme
The college has also bagged the 'Best NSS Unit Award' of the University of Pune in February, 2004
