National Institute of Technology Calicut is situated at the foot of the Western Ghats and located about 22 km from the Calicut city. NIT is a Technical institution which has its national importance set up by an Act of parliament namely National Institute of Technology Act 2007. Which came into effect from 15th August 2007.
The college is among the few colleges in the country to have its own Super Computer. The campus of the college is over 300 acres which is quite green and healthy. The crowd in the campus is quite fine which results in a superior graduates in their field. There are many notable alumni from the college who are serving in their fields with their skills and techniques.
The college offers many U.G, P.G, and PhD. courses according to the demand of the field and market. The students can take admission in these courses according to the eligibility criteria described by the college.

Festivals at the Campus :
Tathva is the annual techno-management fest organised by the college. It is usually organized during the month of September and continues for four days. Tathva is now considered as one of the biggest technical festivals of South India. It has been held every year since its inception in 2001. Aimed at inspiring innovation and technical interest among students and the public, Tathva has played host to lectures, seminars, workshops by companies like ParaMek Technologies, competitions, paper presentations, exhibitions, quizzes, model displays and robotics events. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, G. Madhavan Nair, Harold Kroto, Johannes Orphal, Jimmy Wales, and Suhas Gopinath, were some of the eminent guests in previous editions of Tathva.
Ragam is the cultural festival of NITC. Colleges and universities from Kerala and outside compete in the various events organized here like trivia quizzes, dance competitions, rock shows and music concerts. Some of the performers who have performed in previous years include Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Blaaze, Shankar Mahadevan, Kartik, Benny Dayal, Stephen Devassy and Parikrama. 'Breathe Floyd' a Pink Floyd tribute band from the UK performed during Ragam 2009. Ragam 2010 featured KK, Naresh Iyer and "Higher on Maiden" a tribute band to Iron Maiden.
