Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow, was set up in 1886, with an aim to offer excellent academic qualifications to aspirants who wants to learn and achieve big. Also known as IT College, it is a result of the continuous devotion, tussles and innovation led down by Isabella Thoburn. The college?s objective lies in spreading mindfulness towards national and international concerns through beginning of skill-oriented sequencers under the department maintained by the college, such as Arts, Science, Maths, Biology, Home Sciences and Commerce.
Isabella Thoburn College is governed by the Isabella Thoburn College Society. This pioneer Women's College offers courses at the Intermediate, Undergraduate and Post-graduate levels as well as a few Professional courses. Besides striving for excellence in academics, the College aims to impart human values, promote a healthy appreciation of diversity and strengthen women's empowerment through its various programs of sensitization and Service-Learning. The co-curricular activities and social out-reach programs facilitate positive attitudinal changes and the development of leadership qualities. Since one of our primary aims is high scholarship (which is quite different from being able to pass examinations), we require wide collateral reading and many assignments outside the prescribed course. We try to inspire a hunger for learning not only for degrees, because our true zenith is not reached unless each student leaves College with her gifts of intellect and personality developed for service. The College today has about 2300 students.
