Bharati Vidyapeeth University Medical College College of Optometry (BVUMC), Pune was created in 1998, the College of Optometry has been constituted under the Faculty of General Surgery and is a piece of Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical College, Pune. The college was the first Institute in India to get offshoot participation of World Council of Optometry. In 2003, Bharati Vidyapeeth is the first Institute in the nation to have begun a 2 year Master in Optometry (M. Optom) course.
