National Civil Defense College, Nagpur was secured in 1957. Prior this Institute was known as Central Emergency Relief Training Institute (CERTI), the first Disaster Management Training Institution of the nation established in 1957. The destination of the Institute is to plan & arrange specific Training of Trainers on the premise of Skill improvement, improving Knowledge and producing mindfulness for Management of Response to Disasters. The college is creating Hands-on Training projects on sensible examples and aid the Ministry of Home Affairs in arrangement of handbooks, manuals and other Civil Defense writing.

Established in 1957 The First Disaster Management Training Institution of the country as the Central Emergency Relief Training Institute (CERTI) to support the Emergency Relief Organisation of the Government of India. It is also known as a premier training establishment in Chemical Disasters by the Ministry of Environment & Forests. The college has been recognized as a nodal training institute for Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Emergencies training by the Ministry of Home Affairs, in year 2002. It has been regularly training people from Central Police Forces such as ITBP, CRPF, BSF, CISF. The institute is continuously working plan & organize specialized Training of Trainers on the basis of Skill development, enhancing Knowledge and generating Awareness for Management of Response to Disasters along with developing Hands-on Training programmes on realistic patterns.
