The Annamalai University conducts a national level entrance examination called the Annamalai University All India Medical Entrance Exam (AU AIMEE) to facilitate the admission procedure to various undergraduate level medical courses like MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing and B Pharm offered by the colleges affiliated to the University.
For MBBS, BDS and other medical courses, Annamalai University conducts a prerequisite entrance examination called the AU AIMEE. The selection of candidates for the MBBS, BDS and other medical courses offered by the medical colleges affiliated to the Annamalai University is done through the conduction of this examination.

The candidates who want to appear for this examination must have passed XII board examinations and must have also studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The candidates who are studying in XII are also eligible to apply for the examination. The candidates must have citizenship of India and must attain minimum 17 years of age at the time of applying for the examination.
The examination will have two papers which are Biology and Physical Sciences, each with a total of 120 questions. The questions will be based on the higher secondary level examination syllabus prescribed by the Tamil Nadu Board. The biology paper will have 60 questions from Botany and 60 questions from Zoology. The Physical sciences paper will have 60 questions from Physics and 60 questions from Chemistry.
There are three ways to obtain the application form. The candidates can visit the official website or the candidates can purchase the application forms from the Cash counter at the administrative office of the Annamalai University. The candidates can also get the application form by sending the letter for the application along with a demand draft in a self-addressed envelope with stamps worth Rs. 25. The candidates must send the completely filled application form to the Annamalai University along with a demand draft for the payment of application fee.
