GATE 2015 is known to be a tough exam, and serves as a broadcasting test leaded by major PSUs for recruitment purposes for past few years. GATE will be conducted through online mode for all 22 papers along with MCQs and numericals to be completed via virtual keypad. This year, GATE 2015 has seen many astonishing updates and introductions. This exam is conducted and administered in collaboration by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc) and 7 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) listed for the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and Government of India.

What’s New in GATE 2015?

This year, GATE 2015 Scores will be seeing a validation for up to Three years after Result announcement. All the documents must be sent through online mode, except any hard copies, as they will not be accepted. Payments will be made through online mode (Debit/ATM Cards, Credit Cards or Internet Banking) or via e-Challan. Also, Biometric confirmation and verification will take place randomly before commencement of the exam. This year, the applicants will be provided by third city as a secondary choice for GATE 2015 appearance.

  • Candidates are allowed to carry non-programmable calculators into the exam hall as virtual online calculator cannot be accessed.
  • Conception and applicable skills as well as reasoned abilities are tested.
  • MCQs & Numericals will be duly answered.
  • Questions related to General Aptitude comprise of 15 marks and are mandatory to attend.
  • GATE 2015 Papers carries codes like AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI, TF and XE, and comprises of 15% of the total marks for Engineering Mathematics, 15% for General Aptitude and lasting 70% for the respected paper.
  • GATE 2015 Papers with codes AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL also comprises of 15% of the total for General Aptitude and lasting 85% for the respective paper.
  • GATE 2015 XE Paper comprises of mandatory section within the premises of Engineering Mathematics and General Aptitude along with any two of XE sections B to G.
  • GATE 2015 XL Paper comprises of mandatory section within the premises of Section H in Chemistry and General Aptitude along with any two of XL sections I to M.
  • For every correct answer you will be provided with 1-mark along with 1/3 mark deducted for wrong answer is given.

Note: There is no negative marking included for Numerical Questions.

  • Candidates can now apply for GATE through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).
  • Registration is provided with a valid ID, your currently-used mobile number and password.
  • Respective Login IDs will be mailed directly to the candidates.
  • Accurate personal details should be filled.
  • Scanned photograph and signature should be duly under the size and uploaded.
  • Application fees can be paid through online mode or via Challan.
  • Keep a downloaded copy or printout of your online Application after it is submitted.
  • General/OBC-NCL Male Candidates/Other Candidates: Rs 1500
  • SC / ST / PD category Candidates: Rs 750
  • Women Candidates: Rs 750

Candidates must apply to the institutes/universities on an individual purpose within the admission notices issued by the university/institute. Counseling will be based on performance achieved in GATE 2015 in integration with the academics with 70:30 as ratio.

Candidates passing their life sciences papers (XE or XL) has to appear for a scheduled interview/written test provided by the specific institution. The minimum passing marks required will be specified duly by the institution you are applying with.

    I got 61.95 Marks i.e 658 out of 1000 in mechanical gate exam. can I get IIT college or niit college if yes then which is? My rank is 3989

      I think No because you have at least around 85 to 95 percentage.
