GMAT is an internationally conducted computer adaptive test that aims to ascertain the analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal and reading skills of the candidates aspiring to pursue MBA and other management programs from the best colleges and Universities of the world.

GMAT exam is a universally accepted entrance exam conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council. The management programs offered by more than 1500 Universities and institutions accept the GMAT scores to start with the admission process. The difficulty level of this exam is generally considered to be high.

Apart from the fact that the candidate appearing for GMAT must have completed 18 years of age, there is no other specific eligibility criteria for appearing for the GMAT Examination.

Right after the completion of the test the candidates will receive their scores obtained in the exam. The validity of this score is for 5 years. The shortlisting of candidates based on their scores is the next process. The candidates who are shortlisted are then called in for the final selection process which includes processes like writing Statement of Purpose, Letters of recommendation, Interview and other processes depending upon the selection processes of the B-Schools.

The GMAT exam has an adaptive format which means that the difficulty of the exam changes with the response of the candidate in the previous question. If the answer for the previous question is right, then the next question will be of higher difficulty and if the answer for the previous question is wrong then the next question will be of lesser difficulty. Total time given to the candidate is 3 and a half hours (210 minutes). The questions in this exam will be from Analytical writing with a duration of 30 mins, integrated reasoning with a duration of 30 mins, quantitative ability with a duration of 75 mins and verbal ability with a duration of 75 mins.

The candidates wising to appear for the GMAT exam must have to visit the GMAC website and register themselves for the GMAT exam. After registration, the candidates must choose a test center and an appointment to schedule an exam. A candidate can only appear for the GMAT exam 5 times in a year and also cannot appear more than once within 31 days.

The candidates after scheduling an appointment with the test center of their choice must make a payment of USD 250 as the examination fee.

The declaration of the result is done right after the exam is over. The scores obtained by the candidate can be accepted or declined by the candidate. The candidate has complete freedom on this decision. The scores will be given to the candidate and the participating institutes, if the candidate chooses to accept it and if the candidate chooses to decline it, the scores will not be made visible to any.
