An entrance examination called the LFAT is conducted by the Allahabad University for the admission of candidates to the five year long BA LLB (Hons) offered by the University. The selection of candidates for the undergraduate law degree program offered at the University will be only done through LFAT.

The candidates interested in pursuing a law degree from Allahabad University must appear for LFAT as the admission process to the course will be facilitated through this entrance test.

The candidates applying for LFAT must have passed higher secondary examinations with an aggregate of not less than 45% marks from a recognized institution or any other examination considered equivalent by the Allahabad University. The candidates belonging to the SC/ST categories should have a minimum aggregate of 40% marks. The candidates who are studying in 12th and are waiting for the results may also apply to appear in the examination. The candidates applying must not be older than 20 years as on 1st July 2015 (for the candidates belonging to SC/ST categories there is a relaxation of 2 years).

The examination will consist of three papers. Paper I will consist of questions from language comprehension. Paper II will consist of 100 multiple choice questions from General Knowledge and Current Affairs. In Paper II, the candidates will be awarded 1 mark for every right answer and 1/3rd marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. Paper III will consist of 50 multiple choice questions from Reasoning, Mental Ability and Logical Reasoning. In Paper III candidates will be awarded 2 marks for every right answer and 2/3rd marks shall be deducted for every wrong answer.

The application form for the LFAT exam will be available online. The candidates must have to visit the official website to fill the application forms. After filling the application forms the candidates must have to submit it online.  The submission of application forms will begin from 9th March 2015 and continue till 31st March 2015. The application form and prospectus will cost INR 1200 for candidates belonging to the general category and INR 600 for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH categories.

The admit card containing the details  like candidate’s name, roll number and other examination related information will be made available online. The candidates must visit the official website to download it. The admit cards will be available from 24th April 2015.

The candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam. A merit list will be created on the basis of the scores secured by the candidates in the entrance exam for various courses. The ranks obtained by the candidates will be the basis on which the candidates will be called for the counseling process and the final allotment of seats.
