For the admission to the post graduate courses in Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in the dental colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu, a state level entrance exam is conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education, Chennai, and Tamil Nadu, called the Tamil Nadu PG Dental Exam.

To apply for the TAMIL NADU PG DENTAL exam the candidates must have a citizenship of India and must also have passed the BDS degree from a college and must also have completed the CRRI period in the state of Tamil Nadu. The candidates who are natives of Tamil Nadu and have passed BDS programme, if are able to produce the certificate of their nativity, are also eligible for the exam. 

The candidates wishing to apply for the Tamil Nadu PG Dental exam must visit the official website and download the application form. The candidates must fill the application form as per the given instructions with all necessary attachments and send it via registered/speed post to the address mentioned below. The candidates must also make the payment for the application fee by drawing a demand draft of INR 2000 in favor of Secretary, Selection Committee, payable at Chennai.

The Tamil Nadu PG Dental exam is a state level exam and is of the paper-pencil format. The syllabus will include all subjects of the BDS programme. The question paper shall consist of a total of 250 questions, all of which are objective type multiple choice questions. 1 mark will be awarded to the candidate for every right answer and no negative marking will be done. The admit card for Tamil Nadu PG Dental exam that contains the applicants name, roll number, exam center and examination instructions can be downloaded by the eligible candidates from the official website one week before the exam. The candidates receiving the admit card must paste a passport size photograph which has to be duly attested by a gazetted officer.
