The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) conducts a state level entrance examination for the admissions to the undergraduate level medical courses in the state of Karnataka called the KCET medical exam. The admission for MBBS and BDS offered by about 42 medical colleges with a total of 301 seats and 38 dental colleges with a total of 830 seats, in Karnataka are carried out through this examination.

The candidates wishing to appear for this examination must have passed XII board examinations with an aggregate of 50% marks and must have also studied Physics, Chemistry, English and Biology. The candidates applying for the exam must have scored an aggregate of not less than 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together. The candidates belonging to the SC/ST categories must have obtained an aggregate of not less than 40% marks and they should also have scored 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together. 

The examination conducting authority will specify the details regarding the syllabus and the exam will be conducted as per that. The examination will take place in a window period of two days in three different sessions for 3 subjects that are Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The duration for each paper is 80 minutes and every paper will carry 60 marks. The questions present in the paper will be of multiple choices.

The filling of the application form has to be done online and the applicants must visit the official website to fill the application form. The registration process shall begin from 2nd March 2015. The candidates must also make the payment for the application form through Bank challan.

The application form has to be paid in the form of a demand draft drawn in favor of Executive Director, Karnataka Examination Authority payable at Bangalore.

The admit card for the KCET Medical exam will be uploaded on the official website of KEA which can be downloaded by the candidates. Admit cards will not be sent through post.

The declaration of results will take place in the third week of May 2015. The declaration of results will be done for only those candidates who’ve qualified the entrance exam. The qualifying marks are listed in the table below.





SC/ST and other reserved categories



After the declaration of the results a merit list will be published on the basis of the cut off marks. Based on the rank in the merit list, the candidates will then be called in for the counselling sessions for MBBS and BDS programs.
