The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (popularly known as JIPMER) conducts a national level entrance exam to facilitate the admission procedure for postgraduate medical curse i.e. MD and MS. The selection of candidates will be done for as many as 108 MD/MS seats through this examination.

The candidates who want to apply for this examination must have passed MBBS from a college recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The candidate must have also completed one year of compulsory rotating internship. A permanent/provisional registration certificate must also be obtained by the candidates from the MCI or any State Medical council.

The questions in the JIPMER PG exam will be based on the syllabus prescribed by the examination conducting authority. This exam will be a computer based test with a time-limit of 3 hours. The examination will consist of 250 questions, all of which will be multiple choice questions. The questions will be based on the subjects taught during the MBBS course. 

The application form for the JIPMER PG exam will be available online to the candidates. The candidates must fill the form correctly and then submit the form online. The candidates must also make a payment for the application fee which can be paid by using a credit card, debit card or net banking.

The application fee is different for the candidates belonging to the General and OBC category and the candidates belonging to the SC/ST categories. The table below contains the application fee for different categories.

The admit card can be downloaded by candidates from the official website. The admit cards will be available containing the details of the candidates like their name, roll number, exam center, time and examination instructions, will be made available on the website from  13th November 2014. Admit cards will not be sent through post.

The declaration of results has been done on 28th November 2014. The declaration of results will only be done for the candidates who’ve qualified the JIPMER PG examination. The candidates must obtain a score of more than 50 percentile. However, the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes including OPH categories have to score above 40 percentile to qualify the JIPMER PG examination. The selection of candidates will be based on the merit list and the allotment of seats will be done on the basis of the ranks.
