Jharkhand state will conduct a separate medical entrance exam for the admission of candidates to the undergraduate level medical courses i.e. MBBS and BDS offered by the government medical colleges in the state of Jharkhand. Admissions to the MBBS and BDS courses for the academic year 2015-16 will not be done on the basis of AIPMT exam.

This year the admissions to the MBBS and BDS seats offered by the medical colleges in Jharkhand will not be done through the AIPMT exam. A separate examination will be conducted by Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECE Board) called the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE). The selection of candidates for about 288 MBBS seats and 100 BDS seats will be done through this examination.

The candidates applying for JCECE exam must have passed higher secondary examinations from a recognized board. The candidates must have also studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects in the higher secondary level and must have scored an aggregate of not less than 45% marks in the above mentioned subjects (40% for candidates belonging to the reserved categories). The candidates appearing for this examination must be a domicile of Jharkhand and must also be an Indian citizen. The candidates appearing for the JCECE should have attained 17 years of age and must not be older than 22 years as on 31st December 2015.

The questions that come in the JCECE medical exam will be based on the syllabus prescribed in the higher secondary level examinations. The exam question paper will consist of multiple choice questions with a total duration of 3 hours. The paper will gauge the knowledge of the candidates in four subjects which are Physics, Chemistry Mathematics and Biology. 50 questions will be there from each section. The candidates will be awarded 1 mark for every right answer and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.  

The application forms for the JCECE will be available from the month of March. The application forms can only be filled in through online mode. The candidates must visit the official website of JCECE Board to fill the application form.

The eligible candidates will receive the admit cards before the examinations.

The candidates will be selected for the counseling procedure totally based on their performance in the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination. A merit list will be prepared according to which the candidates will be called for counseling and allotment of seats.
