Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is granted as India’s Central Institution assigned to depart best Civil Services and Several Nationalized Services within best interface and qualitative approach. The agency’s contract has been assigned under the Constitution of India so as to provide Public Services on a broad platform. UPSC has carried out invitations for recruitment purposes within the interface of Mechanical Department of Indian Railways via the means of Special Class Railway Apprentices’ Examination 2015.

SCRA (Special Class Railway Apprentice) is a UPSC-conducted examination which happens to be a selection process for appointing the candidates as Special Class Apprentices in Mechanical Engineering Department of Indian Railways. This is a four year program managed and administered by UPSC, and candidates have to qualify the Entrance Exam and Personal Interview will be leveled during the training session. The candidates securing best performance will be considered eligible for the position of Special Apprentices.

·         Applicants must have appeared and passed their 10+2 or equivalent exam under the recognition of a reputed exam board or institute.

·         Nationality

Candidates must be considered eligible if he/she is-

         i.            An Indian Citizen

       ii.            A Subject of Bhutan

      iii.            A Subject of Nepal

     iv.            A Tibetan Refugee who migrated to India before January 1, 1962 for permanent settlement

       v.            A person of Indian derivation who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, The United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawai, Zaire, Ethiopia or Vietnam for permanent settlement

·         Applicants must have acquired the age of 17 years and less than 21 years so as to apply as calculated on January 1, 2015, i.e. D.O.B. must lie between January 1, 1988 and January 2, 1994.

·         Candidates applying must have obtained any of the given academic qualification for eligibility:

         i.            10+2 or equivalent exam passing from a reputed academic board with first or second division.

       ii.            Candidates must have secured their 10+2 exam with one of the subjects from Physics and Chemistry as mandatory subjects.

OR

      iii.            Graduation must be completed with Mathematics and one of the subjects between Physics and Chemistry as optional Degree subjects

OR

     iv.            First year exam within the three-year graduation must be passed from a recognized university and first or second division must be secured with Mathematic or either Physics or Chemistry as compulsory subjects.

OR

       v.            Pre-Engineering Examination from a reputed university must be secured with a first or second division.

OR

     vi.            Pre-Professional/Pre-Technological must be passed from a reputed university with first or second division secured in Mathematics and at least one of the subjects between Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.

·         Online registration is one of the options, which can be done in two registration parts.

·         For Part 1, candidates need to fill up the elementary details comprising of personal and professional details, and for Part 2, they must upload a recently clicked photograph and signature within the size mentioned and must pay the fees before stepping onto Part 2.

·         The candidates exceeding the eligibility criteria with ease will be issued with an e-Admission Certificate three weeks prior examination. The Certificate will be made available on the website for easy access. No admission Certificate will be directed via Post, and candidates have to mention a valid email ID.

·         Application process will be accomplished after fee is duly paid.

A total amount of Rs.100 must be deposited within any division of State Bank of India or is payable via Net Banking facility provided by State Bank of India / State Bank of India Group or by means of Debit Card / Credit Card. PH / SC / ST / Female applicants does not fall in this category and are not accountable for fee payment.

Admit Card for SCRA 2015 will be announced for download three weeks prior to the exam. Candidates must take out a print out and must keep it along while appearing for the exam as a proof of identity. Admit Card is mandatory to produce at the time of exam.

The results will be declared most probably after one month of examination, i.e. in the month of February 2015. Qualified candidates shall be invited for appearing in Personality Test, which has a weightage of about 200 marks. Candidates who will clear the personality test will be declared eligible for SCRA 2015.
