The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) selects excelled candidates shortlisted on All-India basis and directs recruitment for the post of grade "B" officers via online exam, written exam and finally a Personal Interview. ·         Age

Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years as on the respective year of examination. M.Phil. and Ph.D. qualified candidates have been provided with upper age limit relaxation of 31 & 33 years respectively. Candidates qualifying the criteria with experience as an Officer in Commercial Bank / Financial Institution in Public Sector must not exceed more than 33 years.

Upper Age limit relaxations for others:

        I.            SC / ST - 5 years

      II.            OBC - 3 years

    III.            Ex-employee of Banking institutions - 5 years

    IV.            Ex-servicemen - 5 years

      V.            Emergency Commissioned Officers/Short Service Commissioned Officers - 5 years

    VI.            Candidates, earlier resided in Kashmir Division of the State of Jammu and Kashmir between 1st January, 1980 and 31st December, 1989 - 5 years

  VII.            PH (Gen.)     - 10 years

VIII.            PH (OBC) - 13 years

    IX.            PH (SC/ST) - 15 years

·         Nationality

A candidate applying must be of Indian Nationality, Resident of Nepal or Bhutan, Tibetan refugees (who migrated to India for permanent settlement and with eligibility certificates allotted by the Government of India).

·         Educational Qualifications:

Candidates applying must qualify any one of the criteria so as to apply:

(a) A First Class Bachelor’s Degree with 60% marks or equivalent as cumulative of all semesters/years


(b) A Second Class Master’s Degree with 55% marks or equivalent as cumulative of all semesters/years


(c) A Doctorate Degree; with 50% or equivalent as cumulative of all semesters / years in Master’s Degree


(d) Chartered/Cost Accountant/Company Secretary (ACS) with a Bachelor’s Degree


(e) A Post Graduate Diploma in Management / MBA from recognized institutions by Government of India / University Grants Commission, with Graduation / Bachelor’s Degree.

Candidates will be selected based on their performance in Written Examination and final Interview.

A total sum of Rs.400/- for General and OBC Category must be paid as application fees through Online or Offline Mode. No fee must be paid by SC / ST / PWD Category Candidates. 

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in Examinations and Interview. 2 Phases will be conducted and the details are listed as follows:

·         Phase I
Objective Type Test (Online)
Subjects: General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning
Duration: 130 minutes (2 hours, 10 mins)
Marks: 200

·         Phase II
Descriptive Type Test (Written)
Paper I: English [Essay, Precise Writing/Comprehension, Business/Office Correspondence)
Paper II: Economic and social issues
Paper III: Finance and management
Duration: 3 hours for every paper
Marks: 100 for every paper

Candidates have to clear Phase 1 in order to step on Phase 2. Also, Phase-I (except English test) and Papers II, III of Phase-II will be designed in both English & Hindi. Then candidates who have cleared both the phases will be nominated for the interview based on their aggregate marks and ranking and candidates can answer the interview in both Hindi & English. Finalization will be done on the basis of performance in Phase 2 & Interview.

Note: General Category candidates appearing for Written Exam for 4 straight times in the past are not considered eligible.


RBI constructs training programs for a short period of time for SC/ST/ PWD candidates who are appearing for written exam. No fee is required but candidates are required to arrange for their own boarding/lodging/traveling expenses. They can contact the selective centers and perform the registration duties.
